About The Event
Prime Re Academy is pleased to invite you to attend the first workshop of the Reinsurance Week in Zug, Switzerland in September 2019. Focus will be set on the following topic:
Reinsurance Underwriting
We suggest also signing up for the Reinsurance Pricing and Structuring workshop
This Prime Re Academy workshop teaches the participants the theoretical knowledge they need to understand the main reinsurance programs (proportional, non-proportional, ART) and support functions, and it enables them to put this know-how into practice on the spot via hands-on exercises in Excel®.
While the workshop will present a broad overview of the main reinsurance responsibilities, it will also focus in more depth on some important features. In particular, it will address:
• Fundamentals and purpose of reinsurance
• The reinsurance market
• Underwriting processes
• Wordings and contract certainty
• Pricing
• Technical accounting
• Claims
It is the ideal jumpstart for new underwriters or any other practitioners eager to acquire a broader reinsurance acumen.
The workshop precedes the workshop “Reinsurance Pricing and Structuring”, therefore, the relating workshops can be combined at a reduced fee.
Target Group
The workshop is designed for insurance professionals contemplating a career in reinsurance underwriting. Participants do not need to be experienced in reinsurance, but they may benefit from some familiarity with basic concepts of insurance and an elementary command of Excel®.
Conceptual framework
The Prime Re Academy workshops are of technical nature and structured so that theory and practice alternately complement each other, creating a lively learning platform. Thanks to the interlocking of theory and practice, the course contents is taught in a most efficient manner and the participants are challenged intensively.
Participants should bring along their own laptops so that they can implement and test the theoretical concepts with the Excel® prototypes we will hand over to them.
Moreover, to enhance the international learning experience and networking, the workshop starts in the afternoon and includes joint dinners: this way the participants quickly get to know each other and the lecturers, so that promptly a dynamic atmosphere of mutual challenge and know-how transfer sets in. In particular we encourage the participants to steer the focus of the workshop according to their current needs, e.g. with more emphasis on one or another topic.
